Greg Wetterau, PE, BCEE, is Vice President and Membrane Technology Leader for CDM Smith, where he specializes in desalination, advanced water purification, and membrane treatment system design. Greg leads technical strategy, piloting, and design for major membrane facilities in the United States and internationally, supporting projects that advance potable reuse, high-recovery treatment, and sustainable water supply solutions. 

Greg has worked in membrane treatment for more than three decades. His professional interests include reverse osmosis optimization, brine management, advanced wastewater purification processes, and developing practical, utility-focused solutions to complex treatment challenges. He is an active industry leader, serving on the board of the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) as a Judge for the international XPrize Competition for Water Scarcity, and serving for ten years on the board of the International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA). 

Greg has a BA in Liberal Arts from Wheaton College and a BS in Civil Engineering and an MS in Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and a Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE).
